In 2005, Diane Altwies of OuterCore, Inc. and Janice Preston of Vista Performance Group, LLC formed a joint venture to work with the University of South Florida Business and Professional Development to create their project management certificate program.
OuterCore had been training and consulting for companies in all types of industries since 2000, and its founders created and delivered PMP® books and training materials to PMI® Component Chapters and organizations across the country. Vista Performance Group (formerly Pacifica Companies) had been in operation since 1993, developing curriculum and providing training in project management for high-tech companies in information services, health care, financial services, and pharmaceuticals.
These two successful entrepreneurs decided to combine their independent operations into Core Performance Concepts Inc. (CPC) in 2007 when they found a mutual passion for providing high-quality, effective, and fun training, along with superior personal and responsive customer service. The owners of CPC are recognized experts in project management, project leadership, business analysis, and process improvement and are co-authors of three best-selling published textbooks and more than 30 training courses. They have made presentations internationally for corporate, government, non-profit, and professional associations.
CPC provides training and curriculum in three major arenas: corporate training, educational institutions, and licensing. CPC offers the highest quality materials—much more than just PowerPoint slides; they are full-featured books or workbooks that students may take with them and use as reference materials. They only hire instructors who have had many years of professional experience in project management, leadership and communications, business analysis, and six sigma, and who constantly work to stay current with the latest tools and techniques. They are outstanding presenters and are consistently rated excellent by CPC's clients.
For corporate clients, CPC works to understand the specific issues that project managers face in their organization and then tailors the training concepts to their special situation. Training classes focus on practical steps that can be implemented on the job immediately. CPC strives to maintain a flexible, positive attitude. Their clients consistently report that CPC is very organized, prepared, and easy to work with—they deliver what is promised, offer a quality experience for the participants, and make it easy for them to meet their goals.
CPC also partners with educational institutions allowing them to offer their students a high quality, business curriculum in the growth skills of project management, leadership, business analysis, and lean six sigma. CPC helps them become competitive in the marketplace of adult education and typically provides curriculum, course materials, and instructors. The university provides marketing, registration, and student services.
The licensing portion of CPC's business grew out of their willingness to help local chapters of the Project Management Institute (PMI®). One of the major fund raisers for most PMI chapters is presentation of a Project Management Professional (PMP®) exam preparation course for their members. CPC owners are co-authors of exam preparation textbooks and study materials that are licensed to chapters and other training organizations for their use.
